We provide medium secure inpatient services for male adult patients with mental disorder.

Our hospital has 78 beds, 56 of which are located within the main hospital and the remaining 22 in The Lodges. 

We offer assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. Our aim is to reduce the distress associated with mental health problems and to promote recovery. We work to reduce the risks associated with our patient group and tailor treatment to meet each patient's needs. We are dedicated to achieving the highest standards of patient care.

Patients will only be admitted to Wathwood Hospital if they are referred by a professional.

Referrals come from:

  • Courts
  • Prisons
  • Secure hospitals
  • General mental health services
  • Independent sector hospitals

By car

 

Parking

We are approximately 9 miles from both the A1 and the M1. There is free visitor parking available on site, although spaces can be limited. Some spaces are for use by blue badge holders only.

 

By bus

The nearest bus station is in Wath-upon-Dearne town centre. There is also a bus station in Rotherham with a service to Wath-upon-Dearne. The closest bus service to the hospital is the 221, which also serves Doncaster Town Centre. 

 

By train

The nearest train station is Swinton Interchange (Rotherham, South Yorkshire) which is approximately 1 mile away. A taxi will cost approximately £3-5.
